Pagotto Flying High PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 31 July 2007

So yeah the title is a bit tacky but hey, I have to at least make an attempt at being funny every once in a while. Crotone goalkeeper Angelo Pagotto had his hearing today before the Italian Olympic Committee anti doping prosecutor regarding his alleged cocaine use. He tested positive for the 2nd time in his career after he served an 18 month ban while he still was the Perugia goalkeeper in 2000. He did plead guilty (imagine that) and is now hoping for clemency since he could face a life time ban.

Sorensen Out PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 30 July 2007

Danish International goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is expected to be out with a hamstring injury 4-6 weeks. Whilst playing for his club team Aston Villa in a friendly against Toronto last week Sorensen had to leave the field after just 35 minutes of play.

Sorensen said: "This is the first time I have sustained this sort of injury. I placed the ball to take a goal kick and just felt my left hamstring go. I don't really know what caused it. Perhaps the fact the ball was very hard, that we were playing on synthetic turf, may have contributed.”

Ramos not to Benfica but to PSV PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 27 July 2007

20 Year old goalkeeper Cassio Ramos is moving to PSV Eindhoved and not to Benfica, as was suggested. The Brazilian super talent leaves Gremio and is headed for Eindhoven for about $2 million. Ramos will become 3rd goalkeeper behind Bas Roorda and fellow countryman Gomes.

“Cassio is 6’4” and very athletic. Not only is he superior in the air, he also moves very smoothly and goes down quickly for the low balls. His goal kick is a true beauty, his throw even better. There’s a reason Dunga has called him up for the National Team before.” According to Piet de Visser, one of PSV’s top scouts. He continues: “Ramos was the Brazilian MVP last year during the South-American Championships in Paraguay. Even this last U20 World Cup where Brazil didn’t play all that well, Ramos managed to play up to his usual high level.”

Dundee’s Goalkeeper Problems PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 21 July 2007

In May, Scottish Team Dundee United proudly announced the arrival of Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska from Polish side Korona Kielce, and he was on track to be the number one goalkeeper for the squad. This week 24 yeard old Zaluska broke a bone in his foot and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks.

Who will replace Zaluska in Tannadice? Will manage Craig Levein call upon 21 year old Euan McLean? He seems to be the logical choice of goalkeeper for Dundee’s home opener on August 4th against Aberdeen.
