German giant Werder Bremen announced the signing of young Dutch goalkeeper Robbert Te Loeke today. The 18 year old goalie will play for the Bundesliga squad for at least 2 seasons. He is scheduled to be third goalkeeper for Bremen, that first expressed interest in him in June. Up until this season Te Loeke was playing for the youth team of Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht. Utrecht’s goalkeeper trainer Maarten Arts said: “Normally Robbert would join the 2nd senior team next season but unfortunately we are in a great position having three very talented young goalkeepers already in Michel Vorm, Franck Grandel and Andre Krul. Robbert would most likely not get a lot of playing time because of this” |

Dorus de Vries beat out Willy Gueret last season to become Swansea’s first choice goalkeeper. This made Gueret leave for Milton Keynes Dons and left Swansea with only one back-up goalkeeper being youngster Callum Hawthorne. Manager Roberto Martinez then tried to sign Liverpool third choice keeper David Martin but that move was unsuccessful. "Callum has done really well and he's one we're looking at for the future, but it wouldn't be good for him to be on the bench just now," Martinez said. "So we're looking to bring someone in, maybe in the next few days."

Levante signed another goalkeeper. The Spanish side is getting Marco Storari on loan from AC Milan for 2 seasons with an option to permanently sign him. Interesting detail is that Levante just this past June signed Vladan Kujovic to be their starting goalkeeper. But in recent friendlies against lower ranked opponents they conceded 11 goales which made management decide to contact AC Milan and see if Storari was available. |

Czech Republic U-20 goalkeeper Radek Petr signed with Italian Serie A squad Parma yesterday. The talented young goalkeeper helped the Czech Republic National Team reach the finals at the U-20 World Cup last month. Radek signed a 4 year deal in Parma, according to his agent Tomas Klecka. He was acquired from Czech First Division team Banik Ostrava. Radek is regarded one of the best goalkeepers in his age group after his heroic performances during the U-20 World Cup against Japan and Spain and his key role in eliminating these countries in penalty shootouts. The deal is estimated to be worth around $500,000.00. |

Jerzey Dudek left Liverpool last month to join Real Madrid but it didn’t take Rafael Benitez long to find a replacement for the Polish goalkeeper; Liverpool just signed Charles-Hubert Itandje to be the second goalkeeper behind Jose Manuel Reina. The 24 year old goalkeeper was signed from RC Lens to a 6 year deal. This also means that the very talented 21 year old goalkeeper Scott Carson will be on loan again this year. Having played 36 games for Charlton Athletic last season; Carson will be now be joining Aston Villa to gain more experience. Benitez said: "I am happy with the situation and for Scott to play regularly somewhere else. We do not want to lose him, certainly not sell him because we are very happy with him. He is a good lad and a very promising goalkeeper. But I can understand his need to maintain his place in the England squad. It will benefit him to be out on loan and for us to sign a new goalkeeper, then we will have three keepers all in action." |

The deal we reported to be in the making now has been finalized; Craig Gordon is leaving Hearts to join Sunderland. The move involves about 13 million Euro, which is almost 18 million dollars. This transfer makes Gordon the most expensive goalkeeper in the EPL. The second most expensive goalkeeper move in England was when Barthez joined Man U in 200 for a little under 16 million dollars. The 24 year old goalkeeper has signed a 5 year contract for Roy Keane’s squad. |

Espanyol and Athletic de Bilbao are trading goalkeepers. Bilbao’s goalkeeper Inaki Lafuente is being sent to RCD Espanyol on loan for one season. Gorka Iraizoz, Espanyol’s keeper, has been sold to Athletic de Bilbao. Lafuente, who played 11 regular season games for Los Leones this past season, signed a 4 year deal with the club from Barcelona. Iraizoz only played 2 regular season games for Los Pericos this past season but he did play all UEFA Cup matches including the final. “The club (Espanyol) has given me a great career and I will always be grateful for that” Iraizoz said. “They gave me the chance to play to play in the Primera Division, I was part of winning the Copa del Rey and although a little sad, I also played a UEFA Cup final.” |

1-1 in regulation between EPL giants Chelsea and Manchester United. Time to go to the penalty spot and settle it from there. Last time these 2 met in the FA Cup final van der Sar was critized by some on the Drogba goal. Could he deal with the pressure this time? Pizarro is first, runs up to the ball and shoots, only to be denied by van der Sar with a brilliant left handed save. Next is Frank Lampard. Van der Sar dives to his left to deny him as well. Surely Shaun Wright-Phillips can score on the Dutch giant.....but no....3 Chelsea players denied in a row! All the ManU players scored so Manchester wins the Community Shield! “My career record was 5-2 in penalty shootouts,” said van der Sar. “To save three in a row is a great feeling. I think we deserved the win because we played the better football and created more clear cut chances. This is a little revenge for the FA Cup final.” |

As we reported earlier this week, Craig Gordon might be leaving Hearts soon. Also, back-up goalkeeper Steve Banks is said to make a move to replace Jim Stewart as the Tynecastle goalkeeper coach which would put Romanov’s squad in even bigger problems. It is believed that Hearts management is now eyeing Manchester City’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, indeed, son of Great Dane Peter Schmeichel. |
