Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger refuses to discuss a possible Lehmann transfer in January. “Jens is still part of my plans. Speculations about his departure are made up by the tabloids. Lehmann is and will remain a Gunner.”

Lehmann hasn’t played for Arsenal in months after he came back for injury and has been back-up goalkeeper to Almunia since. Even fellow German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn publicly urged Lehmann to leave Arsenal and find a team where he can play every game. “If Jens wants to play in Euro 2008 then he should really leave Arsenal sooner than later.” This is pretty remarkable coming from Kahn because the two Germans are not really known for seeing eye to eye.

It was rumored that Wolfsburg was interested in signing Lehmann but according to Wenger that is not true. “I am not going to respond to these rumors,” Wenger said, “they are simply not true. Jens and I never discussed a transfer and Wolfsburg never contacted us. We want to focus as a team on our next games, and Jens is absolutely part of that.”
