Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull was sent on loan to Cardiff City at the beginning of this season, but was told to return from Wales to his club this week. A thigh injury to second goalkeeper Brad Jones left manager Gareth Southgate no other option then to ask Turnbull to come back seeing Middlesbrough’s third goalkeeper Jason Steele is only 17 years old and lacks experience. The 22 year old Turnbull started the season in Cardiff as the number one goalkeeper but lost his spot to Michael Oakes.
