An announcement was made on Dortmund’s website breaking the news that Jens Lehmann will not be joining the club. The Arsenal goalkeeper has decided to remain with the Gunners for the remainder of the season, or at least until his contract expires this summer. "Although it would have been a very attractive challenge to play for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga once again, I have decided against taking this step due to personal reasons," said Lehmann. "I am sorry, particularly to disappoint the people responsible at Borussia Dortmund, who have tried very professionally to convince me to move and gave me sufficient time for consideration."

He originally indicated he would want to play for a team where he would play on a weekly basis after he lost his spot at Arsenal to Spanish goalkeeper  Manuel Almunia. This mainly to increase his chances to play for Germany at Euro 2008. Lehmann informed Germany national team coach Low of his decision yesterday morning. "Obviously, Jens' return to the Bundesliga would have been interesting because a player of his quality is always an enrichment, but from talks I have had with him in recent days, I know that he has given this decision serious thought and therefore it will be the right one," Low said.
