The soap amongst German goalkeepers did not get any better this week. Tim Wiese, Werder Bremen’s goalkeeper, was noted saying the following in a newspaper interview: I have been playing with Werder on a high level for 3 years. In the Bundesliga, the UEFA Cup as well as the Champions League have I always performed well. Even so, I have never been called up for the National Team. For me that chapter is closed”

Jens Lehmann has been the starting goalkeeper for the German National team with Valencia keeper Timo Hildrebrand as his back-up. Third goalkeeper has been Hannover’s Robert Enke and this week National Team coach Joachim Löw had young goalie Manuel Neuer from Schalke take some physical tests. Again, apparently no room for poor Tim Wiese.

Just a side note Tim, that chpater that you closed; has it even started for you?
